Harvard Man

Pointless and annoying. There's something about a fixed basketball game, a money-grubbing Mafia lord and his manipulative daughter (Sarah Michelle Gellar, the only possible reason to watch this...and the reason I did...), and somehow the FBI fits in, too. But I really couldn't keep my attention on it for long enough to keep it all straight. (Not that the movie really encouraged paying attention. At the beginning the camera simply won't stop moving, and keeps reminding us that we're outside the film, observing it, not really a part of the story.) Perhaps if I watched it again...nah, not up for the torture.

There are some philosophical statements made in a classroom situation (and then in a bedroom situation, but we won't even go there) by Joey Lauren Adams which were vaguely interesting, but without rewatching the movie, I'm not sure how they related to the rest of the film.

Basically the whole second half of the film is taken up with a drug trip taken by this kid that may or may not ever end. At least the movie finally does.

** out of ****
