That's Entertainment! Indeed. This compilation film features clips from dozens of classic MGM musicals, including those of Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Judy Garland, Eleanor Powell, Esther Williams, Mickey Rooney, Debbie Reynolds, Jane Powell, and many others. MGM had perhaps the largest stable of musical stars in Hollywood, and their musicals were a pinnacle of quality and opulence. If in doubt, just watch That's Entertainment! and see for yourself. Or, if you're already a believer, check it out and remember all the wonderful moments. Nerd alert: I actually have a spreadsheet list of all the clips in the That's Entertainment! films (this one and its two sequels, That's Entertainment! Part 2, and That's Entertainment! III), and what films they are originally from. Let me know if you're interested and want to check out any of these movies in their entirety. The only thing missing from this film are all the wonderful musical moments from other studios, such as the Fred Astaire-Ginger Rogers movies from RKO, the Busby Berkeley movies from Warner Bros., the Bing Crosby movies from Paramount, etc. Maybe someday, those studios will do their own versions of That's Entertainment!
