The Treasure of the Sierra Madre

Bogart and Holt are two drifters stuck in Mexico who decide to go gold prospecting in the Sierra Madre Mountains. Since neither of them know anything about mining, they enlist the help of seasoned prospector Huston. Beautiful character study as Bogart as Fred C. Dobbs turns from an amiable, good-natured guy into a greedy paranoiac. Even though all three, especially Dobbs, begin the venture swearing that they won't take more than they need, Dobbs gradually gets more and more possessive, finally willing to kill to keep the gold. Exciting, gripping, and very well done.
