Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Highly disappointing version of the classic Christmas tale. Jim Carrey does make a funny Grinch, and some of the scenes are enjoyable, but there really isn't enough to the story to fill out a feature-length movie. So the filmmakers added in a back story about why the Grinch is a grinch...when the point is that the grinch simply is a grinch, no explanation necessary.

Besides being overlong, it's overproduced. There is so much to look at that it's impossible to concentrate on the story and care about the people. Compare this to the spare and classic look and sound of Chuck Jones' 1966 animated version.
